Sec. 2-131. - Position created; manager to designate; qualifications.

The position of code enforcement officer is created. The city manager shall designate employees of the city to serve as code enforcement officers. Such employees shall meet the qualifications for code enforcement officers as may be required by this Code or state law and shall have the duties of code enforcement officers set forth in this Code or in state law regardless of the title of the position held by such employees under the city's civil service system.

Sec. 2-132. - Peace officer status.

The code enforcement officer shall be designated as a peace officer whose duties in such capacity shall be limited to the enforcement of violations of this Code, and such persons shall be authorized to make arrests only for the purpose of issuing citations for violations of this Code which constitute infractions or misdemeanors. The code enforcement officer shall attain such certification and complete such training and qualifications as may be required by the state Penal Code.
