10.36.010 - Certain streets—Use prohibited.

All city streets and parts thereof, excepting those referred to in Section 10.36.060, are declared to be streets, the use of which is prohibited by any commercial vehicle designed to transport gross weight exceeding three tons. The provisions of this section shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission.

10.36.020 - Certain streets—Parking prohibited.

No commercial vehicle or part thereof designed to transport a gross weight exceeding three tons shall park on or adjacent to any city street or on private property not zoned for commercial vehicle parking or storage, except as otherwise allowed in this chapter.

10.36.030 - Truck routes—Designation by signs.

Whenever any ordinance of the city designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street, the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of five tons, the city traffic engineer is authorized to designate such street by appropriate signs as a "truck route" for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of five tons.

10.36.040 - Truck routes—Use required.

When any such truck route is established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of five tons shall drive on such route and none other, except that nothing in this section or Section 10.36.030 shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of five tons coming from a truck route from having ingress and egress by direct route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pick-ups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets, or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets, for which a building permit has previously been obtained.

10.36.050 - Exemption—Certain vehicles.

The provisions of Sections 10.36.030 and 10.36.040 shall not apply to:

A. Passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission; or

B. Any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility.

10.36.060 - Truck routes—Designated.

The following streets and parts of streets are declared to be truck routes for the movement of vehicles according to a maximum gross weight of five tons:

A. State Highway 273;

B. Interstate 5;

C. Deschutes Road;

D. North Street between Highway 273 and the Sacramento River;

E. Ventura Street;

F. South Street between the westerly city limits and Highway 273;

G. Balls Ferry Road;

H. Frontage Road between Balls Ferry and North Street;

I. Riverside Avenue.

10.36.070 - Exemption—Parking for food or lodging.

Nothing in this chapter shall prohibit the stopping and parking for the consumption of food or overnight lodging at a commercial business establishment licensed for that activity, provided adequate off-street parking for such commercial establishment is available at a location adjacent to an established truck route.

10.36.080 - Violations.

A violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be considered an infraction, punishable as provided in Section 1.20.010 of this code.
