10.24.010 - Conformance with Vehicle Code.¶
Whenever traffic is controlled by traffic-control signals exhibiting the words "go," "caution" or "stop," or exhibiting different colored lights successively, one at a time, such signals shall conform with the requirements of the Vehicle Code and all traffic shall comply with such signals.

10.24.020 - Obedience required.¶
No person shall disobey instructions of:
A. Any official traffic signal;
B. Any traffic sign;
C. Any paint marks placed upon the surface of the roadway;
D. Any banner or sign erected by any officer or agency of the city or erected by any law enforcement agency authorized to do so by the city or by anyone given authority to do so in accordance with the provisions of this title.
A violation of any of the provisions of this section shall constitute an infraction, punishable as set forth in Section 1.20.010 of this code.

10.24.030 - Crosswalk maintenance.¶
The city council is authorized and required to establish and maintain, and to designate upon the surface of the roadway by appropriate devices, marks or white or yellow lines, crosswalks approximately equal in width to the adjacent sidewalk at all intersections and between intersections where there is particular danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway.

10.24.040 - Installation and maintenance.¶
The city council is authorized to determine those streets, intersections and crosswalks at which traffic is hazardous or dangerous to life or property by reason of the volume of traffic upon such streets or at such intersections or crosswalks; or the lack of visibility of the drivers of vehicles approaching such streets, intersections or crosswalks; or because of the numerous reported accidents or the possibility thereof; or by reason of other physical conditions likely to render any such street, intersection or crosswalk dangerous or hazardous to life or property. When the city council has determined that a street, intersection or crosswalk is dangerous or hazardous to life or property, it is authorized and empowered to place, erect and maintain stop signs, traffic-control signals and other such signals at, on or near such streets, intersections or crosswalks as it shall designate. Every such stop signal shall conform to the requirements of the Vehicle Code of the state.

10.24.050 - Compliance with stop signs required.¶
No operator of any vehicle or streetcar shall fail to stop such vehicle or streetcar at every stop sign erected and maintained pursuant to this title at the entrance to any intersection before entering the intersection, except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic-control signal.
A violation of any of the provisions of this section shall constitute an infraction, punishable as set forth in Section 1.20.010 of this code.
