Sec. 7-237. - Alternate materials and methods of construction.

The provisions of this Ordinance are not intended to prevent the use of any material or method of construction not specifically prescribed by this Ordinance provided any such alternate has been approved by the enforcing authority, nor is it the intention of this Ordinance to exclude any sound method of structural design or analysis not specifically provided for in this Ordinance. Materials, methods of construction, or structural design limitations provided for in this Ordinance are to be used unless an exception is granted by the enforcing authority.

The enforcing authority may approve any such alternate provided they find the proposed design to be satisfactory and the material and method of work is, for the purpose intended, at least equivalent to that prescribed in this Ordinance in quality, strength, effectiveness, burglary resistance, durability and safety.
