2.340.010 Organization.

The community development department is established and organized into three functional program areas, all of which are under the direction and administration of the community development director. 2.340.020 Duties and responsibilities.

Under the direction of the community development director, this department is responsible for the city’s land use planning programs and activities, and administering the city’s zoning and subdivision regulations. In addition, the department administers or oversees the city’s housing and historic preservation programs, and coordinates the city’s environmental review responsibilities under the California Environmental Quality Act. Finally, building and safety performs activities related to construction permitting, plan checking, general code enforcement and neighborhood preservation program, inspections and the enforcement of community standards established by ordinance or regulation.
