2.327.010 Organization.

The office of city treasurer is established within the finance department. Unless otherwise directed by the city manager, the assistant chief financial officer shall also serve as the city treasurer. (Ord. No. 2004-016, § 1, 8-3-04; Ord. No. 2006-009, § 1, 5-1-06; Ord. No. 2022-002, § 8, 3-21-22)

2.327.020 Duties and responsibilities.

The city treasurer shall carry out the duties of the city treasurer provided for by the laws of the state of California and the Charter, ordinances, policies, and procedures of this city, including, but not limited to, receiving all money belonging to or paid to the city, keeping all city money in a safe and secure depository or investing that portion of such money not required for the ongoing operations of the city in interest bearing accounts or other securities authorized by the city’s investment policies, maintaining accounts of the receipt and expenditure of all city money, and disbursing city money in the manner authorized by the city’s Charter, ordinances, policies, and procedures. Upon appointment as such, the city treasurer shall also serve as the treasurer of the San Buenaventura public facilities financing authority, the successor agency to the city of San Buenaventura redevelopment agency, and the city of San Buenaventura parking authority.
