2.330.010 Organization.¶
The office of the city engineer is established within the public works department. (Ord. No. 2003-003, § 1, 4-28-03)
2.330.020 Duties and responsibilities.¶
The city engineer shall carry out the duties and responsibilities of a city engineer provided for by the laws of the state of California and the ordinances, policies and procedures of this city, including, but not limited to, approving final subdivision maps and parcel maps, adopting design criteria and improvement standards for public improvements, approving plans and specifications for public improvements constructed and installed in accordance with such design criteria and improvements standards, issuing permits authorizing the construction, reconstruction or repair of streets, sidewalks, curbs or gutters within any public right-of-way or other public place, issuing permits authorizing grading work and/or the import or export of earthen materials to or from any grading site, and performance of the duties and responsibilities of the city traffic with authority to place and maintain official traffic control devices within the city’s streets and other public rights-of-way.
