2.355.010 Organization.¶
The public works department is established and is organized into five functional program areas, all of which are under the direction and administration of the public works director. These five areas are traffic and transportation, environmental sustainability, fleet and facilities, engineering design and engineering construction. (Ord. No. 2003-003, § 1, 4-28-03; Ord. 2.355.020 Duties and responsibilities.¶
Under the direction of the public works director, the department is charged with maintaining, repairing, and cleaning public streets and alleys; installing, repairing, and replacing public street signs, guardrails, and barricades; maintaining traffic signals; maintaining public facilities; maintaining parking district lots; managing the collection and processing of refuse and recyclable materials; administering source reduction programs; performing engineering and construction management services related to capital improvement projects; overseeing engineering related to traffic control and street lighting installations; approving plans and specifications for public improvements constructed and installed incident to city approved land development projects; and overseeing stormwater management to include the duties of the legally responsible person; floodplain management; and oversight of real property administration.
