2.350.010 Organization.¶
The fire department is established and is organized into two functional program areas, all of which are under the direction and administration of the fire chief. These areas include emergency response services and fire prevention. (Ord. No. 2003-003, § 1, 4-28-03; Ord. No. 2010-007, § 3, 5-17-10)
2.350.020 Duties and responsibilities.¶
Under the direction of the fire chief, the department operates an emergency response division and a fire prevention division. The emergency response division is responsible for the protection of life and property through the quick and effective extinguishment of hostile fires, the delivery of emergency medical services to victims of sudden illness and injury, mitigation of toxic and hazardous materials emergencies, response to a variety of emergency conditions which may threaten lives and property of the public, the planning and coordination of a citywide disaster preparedness program, and the delivery of information and educational programs to the public. The fire prevention division is responsible for the implementation of a fire prevention program, hazardous and toxic materials regulatory program, public education program and other activities related to permitting, plan checking, inspections, and the enforcement of the fire code.
