1551 - COMMISSION ESTABLISHED¶
There is hereby established the Community Services Commission of the City of Tustin with the compensation, jurisdiction, duties, terms of office and other characteristics as specified herein.

1552 - MEMBERS¶
The Community Services Commission shall consist of five (5) members, each of whom shall be both residents and registered voters of the City during all times they hold office.

1553 - APPOINTMENTS AND TERMS¶
a
Appointment. Members of the Community Services Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. All members of the Commission shall serve until their respective successors are appointed and qualified.

Removal. All members of the Commission shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council and may be removed upon motion of the City Council adopted by at least three (3) affirmative votes. A member of the Community Services Commission shall automatically be deemed removed from office upon certification of election of that member to the City Council as provided in Section 1305b of this Code.

Terms of Office. The terms of office of the three (3) current Community Services Commission members who were appointed in 2017 are hereby extended to March 1, 2021. The terms of office of the two (2) current Community Services Commission members who were appointed in 2016 are hereby extended to March 1, 2019. The term of each said office shall thereafter be for four (4) years commencing on the expiration date of each office as prescribed hereinabove.

Limitation on Consecutive Terms of Office. For all terms that commence after January 1, 2018, no person shall be eligible to serve more than two (2) consecutive four-year terms on the Community Services Commission. A term of office that commenced prior to January 1, 2018, shall not be counted when determining the number of consecutive terms a Commissioner has served.

1554 - COMPENSATION OF MEMBERS¶
Members of the Community Services Commission shall receive compensation as prescribed by ordinance of the City Council from time to time.

1555 - DUTIES¶
The Community Services Commission shall serve as an advisory body to the City Council and the Community Services Staff on all matters relating to parks, park design and development, recreation, and community services.

1556 - MEETINGS¶
At its first meeting, the Community Services Commission shall establish, by resolution, the time and place of subsequent regular meetings which shall be held not less than once every three (3) months. The Community Services Commission may meet at such other times and places as hereafter may be determined from time to time by the Commission to be necessary or convenient. All meetings shall be held in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act, Government Code Sections 54950 through 54961.

1557 - JOINT MEETING WITH CITY COUNCIL¶
The City Council shall meet with the Community Services Commission at least once each year to give the Commission direction regarding Council policy.
