9.04.010 - Animals; Riding or Driving on Highway¶
Any person who rides, drives or leads on a highway within the corporate limits of the city, any animal at a greater speed than six miles an hour, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

9.04.020 - Animals; Riding or Driving on Sidewalk¶
Any person who rides, drives or ties any animal on a sidewalk, except when going directly across such sidewalk for some property purpose, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

9.04.030 - Playing on Highway; Weapons in City¶
Every person who, upon a highway engages in playing ball, foot racing or any other boisterous game, or within the city limits, uses any sling, slung-shot or other missile or weapon, or throws stones, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

9.04.040 - Operation of Bicycles and Skateboards on Sidewalks¶
A. Definitions. The following words are defined as set forth in this section:
"Bicycles" means a vehicle or a device in a tandem arrangement, which is propelled solely by human power, and upon which one or more persons may ride.
"Sidewalk" means that portion of a road, street or highway designed or ordinarily used for pedestrian travel and includes any pedestrian walkways in any parks within the commercial or business districts of the city.
"Skateboard" means any single platform mounted on wheels, which is propelled solely by human power and which has no mechanism or other device with which to steer or control the movement or direction of the platform.
"Roadway" means that portion of the highway or street improved or designed especially for vehicular use or travel.

9.04.041 - Use or Operation of Bicycles and Skateboards Prohibited¶
A. It is unlawful for any person(s) to use or operate any bicycle upon any sidewalk in the city at the following locations, and it is unlawful for any person(s) to use or operate any skateboard upon any sidewalk and upon any street in the following locations:
"Green Street" in its entire length from W. Church Street to Snell Street;
"Washington Street" from its intersection point with Elkin Street to its intersection point with June Street;
"Stewart Street" from its intersection point with Elkin Street to its intersection point with E. Church Street;
"Elkin Street" from Washington Street to Stewart Street;
"Church Street" from Stewart Street to Green Street.

9.04.042 - Use or Operation of Skateboards Prohibited When¶
It is unlawful for any person(s) to use or operate any skateboard upon or in any public parking lot, any city-owned permit parking lot, any city-owned parking structure(s), or facilities designed and utilized for parking use.

9.04.043 - Areas for Nonuse of Skateboards¶
The city council of the city may from time to time review the business and commercial areas within the city boundaries and may declare after such review, areas which may be specifically designated for the nonuse of skateboards. Such declaration may be accomplished by adoption or amendment of existing ordinances, or by declaration and passage and adoption of a resolution.

9.04.045 - Occupying Public Parks, the Dragoon Gulch, and Cemeteries During Certain…¶
A. Every person who occupies or is present in a public park or in a public parking lot attached to, adjacent to, or within the immediate vicinity of a public park within the City of Sonora between the hours of ten p.m. and seven a.m. is guilty of a violating this section unless such occupancy or presence in is as the result of: (1) an event organized by or approved of by the Sonora City Council, (2) a permit issued by the City of Sonora, or (3) the prior written approval of the Sonora city administrator or designee. For purposes of this subsection, the following shall constitute public parks in the City of Sonora:
Foster's Prospector Park
Woods Creek Rotary Park
Grigsby Park
Coffill Park and adjacent section of Sonora Creek
Rother's Corner Park
B. Every person who occupies or is present in the Dragoon Gulch or in a public parking lot adjacent to, attached to, or in the immediate vicinity of the Dragoon Gulch Trail between the hours of one-half hour before sunset and one-half hour before sunrise is guilty of violating this section unless such occupancy or presence in is as the result of: (1) an event organized by or approved of by the City of Sonora, (2) a permit issued by the City of Sonora, or (3) the prior written approval of the city administrator or his/her designee.
C. Notwithstanding Section 2.36.210, every person, except for a funeral director, who occupies or is present in a cemetery or in a public parking lot attached to, adjacent to, or in the immediate vicinity of a cemetery within the City of Sonora between the hours of one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise is guilty of a violating this section unless such occupancy or presence in is as the result of: (1) an event organized by or approved of by the City of Sonora, (2) a permit issued by the City of Sonora, or (3) the prior-written approval of the superintendent or designee. For purposes of this subsection, the following shall constitute cemeteries within the City of Sonora:
Mountain Shadow Cemetery
Old City Cemetery
D. The violation of any provision of this section shall constitute an infraction punishable by:
A fine not exceeding one hundred dollars for a first violation
A fine not exceeding two hundred and fifty dollars for a second violation of the same ordinance within ninety calendar days of the first offense.
If any provision of this section shall be violated a third or more times within six months of the original violation, each such violation shall constitute a misdemeanor.
a. Any person convicted of a misdemeanor under the provisions of the Sonora Municipal Code shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars, or by imprisonment in the county jail of the county of Tuolumne for a period of not more than one year, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

9.04.046 - Bathing and Washing in Public Fountains or Public Restrooms¶
No person shall bathe, wash, or make contact with water in a public decorative fountain. For purposes of this section, "decorative fountain" does not include drinking fountains.
No person shall use any drinking fountain or public restroom to wash clothing or wash any portion of their body other than their arms, neck, or face.

9.04.050 - Violation; Penalty¶
Any person who violates Section 9.04.042 or Section 9.04.043 is guilty of an infraction and on conviction, shall be punished in accordance with the provisions of Section 1.08.010(C) of the Sonora Municipal Code.
