1-6-1: GOVERNING OFFICERS:¶
The government of the city shall be vested in the following officers:
(A) Council of five (5) members.
(B) City administrator.
(C) Clerk.
(D) Treasurer.
(E) Chief of police.
(F) Fire chief.
(G) Such subordinate officers or employees as are provided by law, and deemed necessary by the council for the proper administration of the municipal government 1

1-6-2: QUALIFICATIONS:¶
No person shall be eligible to hold office as councilman, clerk or treasurer unless that person is an elector of, and has resided in this city for thirty (30) days preceding election or appointment to office. If, during the term of office, the official changes residence to outside the city limits or ceases to be an elector of the city, that person's office shall immediately become vacant 1

1-6-3: ELECTIVE OFFICERS; TERMS:¶
The elective officers of the city shall hold office for a term of four (4) years, and until their successors are elected and qualified 1

1-6-4: OATH:¶
Before entering upon his duties, each city officer shall take and file with the clerk the constitutional oath of office. (1963 Code)
1-6-5: APPOINTMENTS:¶
The city administrator shall appoint all subordinate officers and employees of the city unless otherwise indicated by law. (Ord. 810, 2-19-1980)
1-6-6: VACANCIES:¶
The council shall fill any vacancy occurring in the elective offices provided for herein, by appointment. If a vacancy occurs in an elective office and the council fails to fill it within thirty (30) days, it shall immediately cause an election to be held to fill the vacancy. Any person appointed or elected to fill a vacancy shall hold office for the unexpired term of the former incumbent. (Ord. 810, 2-19-1980)
1-6-7: BONDS OF OFFICERS:¶
Before entering upon the duties of their offices, the clerk and treasurer shall each execute a bond to the city. The penal sum of the bond shall be the amount recommended by the attorney and fixed by the council not less than thirty (30) days before the election of the officers. The council may require bonds of any other officer or employee of the city, and shall approve all bonds. When approved the clerk's bond shall be filed with the mayor and all other bonds shall be filed with the clerk. (1963 Code)
1-6-8: COMPENSATION OF COUNCIL MEMBERS:¶
The compensation of each duly qualified council member is hereby fixed at the sum of three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month. Such change in compensation shall not take effect until one or more members of the city council begins a new term of office. (Ord. 2005-12, 12-5-2005)
1-6-9: CITY MONEY; DEPOSIT; REPORTS:¶
Any officer or employee collecting or receiving money belonging to, or for the use of, the city shall deposit it immediately in the treasury in the manner prescribed by law for the benefit of the funds to which it belongs. He shall report such deposits to, and settle with, the clerk on the first Monday of each month 1

1-6-10: OFFICERS; INTEREST IN CONTRACTS:¶
City officers shall not be interested in any contract made by them in their official capacity, or by any body or board of which they are members, nor shall any officers be purchasers at any sale, or vendors at any purchase made by them in their official capacity. (1963 Code)
1-6-11: SIGNATURE:¶
All written contracts and conveyances made or entered into by the city and all instruments requiring the city seal shall be signed by the mayor or the city administrator and shall be countersigned by the city clerk. (Ord. 837, 3-1-1982)
