2-2020 - POSITION CREATED.¶
Pursuant to Section 27640 of the Government Code of the State of California, there is hereby created the Office of County Counsel of the County of San Joaquin. The County Counsel shall serve for four (4) years from his appointment and until his successor is appointed. The County Counsel shall be assisted by such assistants and employees as will enable him to perform properly the duties of his office as determined by order of the Board. The Board shall by order fix the salaries of the County Counsel and of his assistants and employees, which may be changed at any time when deemed necessary by the Board.

2-2021 - EXPENSES OF OFFICE.¶
The necessary expenses incurred by the County Counsel and his assistants in the discharge of their official duties shall be a charge against the County.

2-2022 - EMPLOYMENT OF ASSISTANTS.¶
The assistants and employees in the Office of the County Counsel shall be appointed and hold office subject to the provisions of the County Civil Service Ordinance, as set forth in Division 5 of Title 2 of this Ordinance Code.

2-2023 - ATTORNEY FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATORS.¶
The County Counsel shall act as attorney for each Public Administrator who takes office on or after noon on January 3, 1983, and shall provide services for estates in which the Public Administrator is appointed by the Court after noon January 3, 1983, except in those cases where the County Counsel determines that a conflict of interest exists. Private counsel may be retained to assist the Public Administrator only upon the approval of the Board of Supervisors.
The County Counsel shall collect the attorney's fees allowed by law and shall pay the same into the County Treasury.
