Editor’s Note:
Former Ch. 5, Art. XL, “Close Juvenile Hall Working Group,” comprising former Secs. 5.40-1 through 5.40-7, as added by Ord. 117-19, was repealed by Ord. 99-26, effective June 29, 2026.
SEC. 5.40-1. CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND THEIR FAMILIES SERVICE PROVIDER ADVISORY COUNCIL.¶
(a) Purpose. There is hereby established a Children, Youth, and Their Families Service Provider Advisory Council (“Council”), which is an Advisory Body as defined in Section 5.1-1. The purpose of the Council shall be to advise the Children, Youth and Their Families Oversight and Advisory Committee (“Committee”) on funding priorities, policy development, the planning cycle, evaluation design and plans, and any other issues of concern to the Council related to the Children and Youth Fund (“Fund”) established in Charter Section 16.108, or the responsibilities of the Department of Children Youth and Their Families (“DCYF”) or other departments receiving monies from the Fund. Where the Charter refers to the “Service Provider Working Group,” such references shall be understood to refer to the Council.
(b) Membership and Meetings. The Council shall have seven members appointed by the Committee. The Council shall engage a broad cross-section of service providers in providing information, education, and consultation to the Committee. All members of the Council shall be persons actively providing services to children, youth, and their families during the members’ service on the Council. The Council shall meet at least four times each year.
The Council shall include members who are service providers who currently receive funding from DCYF, service providers who have never received funding from DCYF but currently provide services for children and youth, and service providers who have received funding from DCYF in the past and who currently provide services for children and youth. In addition, the Council shall include members with expertise or experience in the various funding areas identified in DCYF’s most recent Services and Allocation Plan.
(c) Sunset. Unless the Board of Supervisors by ordinance extends the term of the Council, this Article XL will expire by operation of law, and the Council shall sunset, on June 1, 2030. In that event and after that date, the City Attorney shall cause this section to be removed from the Administrative Code.
