Sec. 74-71. - Required.

It shall be unlawful to remove or destroy or cause to be removed or destroyed any portion of any curb, gutter or sidewalk in the city for the purpose of constructing entrances to driveways or for any other purpose without first securing a permit.

Sec. 74-72. - Application.

Any person desiring a permit to destroy or remove any portion of any curb, gutter or sidewalk for the purpose of constructing any entrance to abutting land or for other proper and lawful purpose shall file with the department of public works an application therefor.

Sec. 74-73. - Contents of application.

The application required by section 74-72 shall state in lineal feet the amount of curb, gutter or sidewalk to be removed or destroyed and the purpose for which it is to be removed or destroyed.

Sec. 74-74. - Fees and deposits.

(a) Inspection fees. Before issuing a permit required by section 74-71 of this division, the department of public works shall collect inspection fees at such rates as shall be established from time to time by resolution of the city council.

(b) Deposits for removal or destruction of improvements. Deposits for any removal or destruction of existing public improvements which have to be replaced shall be at such rates as shall be established from time to time by resolution of the city council.

Sec. 74-75. - Issuance; contents.

Upon the filing of the application, the making of such deposit and the payment of such fees as are required by this division for each permit, the department of public works shall issue a written permit to remove or destroy, at a location to be specified therein, the amount of curb, gutter or sidewalk necessary to be removed or destroyed to accomplish the proper and lawful purpose for which the permit is issued.
