Sacramento Municipal Code Ch. 2.50 City of Sacramento Housing Code Advisory and Appeals Board

The City of Sacramento Housing Code Advisory and Appeals Board is hereby established. (Ord. 2024-0029 § 1)

The board is established for the purpose of providing final interpretation of the provisions of chapters 8.96 and 8.100 and hearing appeals provided thereunder. (Ord. 2025-0002 § 1; Ord. 2024-0029 § 1)

The powers and duties of the board are as follows:

A. Provide final interpretation of the provisions of chapter 8.100.

B. Hear appeals provided for in chapter 8.100.

C. Recommend to the city council such new ordinances or amendments to chapter 8.100 as may be deemed desirable.

D. Provide final interpretation of the provisions of chapter 8.96.

E. Hear appeals provided for in chapter 8.96. (Ord. 2025-0002 § 2; Ord. 2024-0029 § 1)

A. Number of members. The board has five members. The Personnel and Public Employees Committee shall recommend all five members for appointment.

B. Qualifications. In addition to any requirements or restrictions in chapter 2.40:

1. Members must have an expressed interest or demonstrated history of involvement in the provisions of the city's housing code. (Ord. 2024-0029 § 1)

A. The building official or designee shall serve as staff to the board.

B. The board may adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conducting its business. Copies of all rules or regulations adopted by the board shall be delivered to the building official, who shall make them freely available to the public.

C. The board shall render all decisions and findings in writing to the parties and the building official. (Ord. 2025-0002 § 3)

Unless specifically provided otherwise in this chapter, the provisions of chapter 2.40 apply to the board and its members. (Ord. 2024-0029 § 1)
