2.20.010 Willful giving of false, misleading, etc., information.¶
It is unlawful for any person to knowingly and willfully furnish, give or make a false, misleading or unfounded report to the police department for the purpose of interfering with proper operation of the police department or any of its officers or both. (Prior code § 30.01.001)
2.20.020 Marksmanship badge-Established.¶
A system of official badges for marksmanship to be worn by the members of the police department who have earned them is established. The medal shall consist of a medallion and bar pin which shall indicate the rank attained in the practice test. This bar shall be changed from year to year to indicate such rank. 2.20.030 Marksmanship badge-Specifications.¶
The specifications for the medallion and bars of the marksmanship medals shall be as follows:
A. A medallion of sterling silver, one and one-eighth inches in diameter and three thirty-seconds inch thick with two substantial closed links attached to upper edge as shown in cut. The front and reverse sides shall be stamped with design and lettering as shown in cut.
B. A gold bar pin, ten (10) carat, one and three-sixteenths inches long by five-sixteenths inch wide by three sixty-fourths inch thick with two closed links attached to lower edge. The front side of the bar shall be stamped with design as shown in cut and the word "EXPERT" and the year of issue to be in raised letters and numerals as shown in cut. The back side of the bar shall have soldered on it a substantial pin with safety catch.
C. A sterling silver bar pin, same dimensions and construction as the gold bar pin; except, the front side will contain the word "SHARPSHOOTER" and the year of issue in raised letters together with the design as shown in the cut.
D. A bronze bar pin, same dimensions and construction as the gold and silver bar pins; except, that the front side will contain the word "MARKSMAN" and the year of issue in raised letters together with the design as shown in the cut. (Prior code § 30.01.005)
Editor's note: The "cuts" for designs of marksmanship medals referred to in the above section will be found on file in the office of the chief of police.
2.20.040 Marksmanship badge-Presentation.¶
Such marksmanship medals shall be purchased by the city and shall be presented to such members of the police department as may from year to year qualify in the respective ratings according to the rules adopted therefor by the chief of police and approved by the city manager. 2.20.060 Blowing or imitating police officer's whistle.¶
It is unlawful for any person not a peace officer to blow any police officer's whistle or to make anywhere within the city limits any noise imitating a police officer's whistle or to do any act or thing to lead any person to believe he or she is a police officer or other peace officer. (Prior code § 30.01.008)
2.20.070 Reserve police officer-Designated and non-designated.¶
A. The chief of police, or authorized designee, has the authority to select and appoint any reserve police officer within the "Reserve Police Officer I" job classification as a "designated" reserve police officer as provided by California Penal Code Section 830.6(a)(2). The authority of the reserve police officer so designated includes the full powers and duties of a peace officer as provided by California Penal Code Section 830.1.
B. Any reserve police officer within the "Reserve Police Officer I" job classification not appointed as a "designated" reserve police officer as provided in subsection A of this section is a "non-designated" reserve police officer as provided by California Penal Code Section 830.6(a)(1). The authority of a non-designated reserve police officer shall extend only for the duration of the reserve officer's specific assignment. (Ord. 2012-006 § 2)
