Chapter 19.46 — LARGE FAMILY DAY CARE

§ 19.46.010. Purpose.

This chapter establishes requirements and standards for the location and operation of large family day care homes, as defined in Section 19.08.080(H) . (Ord. 5428 § 1, 2014; Ord. 5974 § 12, 2018)

§ 19.46.020. General requirements.

  • A. Location. Consistent with Section 1596.72 of the Health and Safety Code as may be amended from time to time, a large family day care home may be located in a detached single-family dwelling, a townhouse, a dwelling unit within a dwelling, or a dwelling unit within a covered multi-family dwelling in which the underlying zoning allows for residential uses.

  • B. Noise. It is intended that noise from outdoor play areas be kept to a level consistent with residential neighborhoods. To attain this intent and reduce possible noise impacts, outdoor play/activity areas shall only be used between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Additionally, radio or other electronic amplification devices, if used, shall be played at volumes which are not audible beyond the exterior boundary of the large family day care home site.
