10.28.010 - Vehicle emerging across sidewalk.

The driver of a vehicle emerging from a private alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto the sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any such alley, driveway or building entrance.

10.28.020 - Driving through funeral processions.

No person operating a vehicle shall drive between vehicles comprising a funeral procession while they are in motion and when the vehicles in such processions are conspicuously so designated.

10.28.030 - New pavement or wet paint.

No person shall operate any vehicle over or across any newly made pavement or freshly painted markings in any street when a barrier, sign or other device is in place warning persons not to drive over or across such pavement or marking, or when a device is in place stating that the street or any portion thereof, is closed.

10.28.040 - Roller skates—Toy vehicles—Skateboards.

No person shall ride in or operate any roller skates, scooters, skateboards, toy vehicles or any other similar devices upon any roadway, except within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.

10.28.050 - Excessive acceleration—Burning rubber.

Except when reasonably necessary to avoid a collision, no person in operating a motor vehicle within the city limits shall so accelerate the same as to cause audible noise by tire friction on any paved surface or to cause the vehicle's tire to leave skid marks upon any paved surface.

10.28.060 - Crossing bicycle ways or horse trail.

No person shall drive a vehicle upon or across a bicycle path, bicycle lane or horse trail except to enter or leave a driveway, to lawfully park such a vehicle, or make a turn onto another roadway.

10.28.070 - Commercial vehicles on certain streets.

Whenever any ordinance or resolution of the city designates and describes any street, or portion thereof, as a street the use of which is prohibited by any commercial vehicle, the traffic engineer shall erect and maintain appropriate signs on those streets which will best serve to give notice of the prohibited commercial vehicle use. It is intended that the term "best serve to give notice" shall not be interpreted to require individual signage on each and every street, road or highway for which the use by commercial vehicles is prohibited.

10.28.080 - Damaging pavement—Cleated tires.

It is unlawful for any person to drive, or cause or permit to be driven, along or upon any paved street, alley or public place in the city, any vehicle having any tire or wheel, to any part of which there is attached a sharp or uneven surface, or to any tire, wheel or part of which there is attached cleats or spikes or uneven surface or any device that will cause, or will have a tendency to cause, damage or injury to the pavement of such street; provided, however, that the traffic engineer may issue permits to move such vehicles over the streets of the city upon ascertaining that such vehicles, in his opinion, may be moved without causing damage or injury to the streets, provided the owner and/or operator of the vehicle remains liable for any damage or injury. Nothing in this section prohibits the use of any skid chains on rubber tires attached to the wheels of motor vehicles.

10.28.090 - Public transit vehicles—Passenger-safety zones.

The traffic engineer may establish safety zones of such kind and character consistent with the Vehicle Code as he deems advisable or necessary for the protection of pedestrians at places where public transit vehicles stop; provided, that the space between the safety zone and the curb is wide enough to allow the clear passage of one line of traffic.

10.28.100 - Public transit vehicles—Boarding or alighting from.

No person shall board or alight from any public transit vehicle while such public transit vehicle is in motion.

10.28.110 - Public transit vehicles—Hanging on—Unlawful riding.

No person shall ride on any public transit vehicle or upon any portion thereof not designed or intended for the use of passengers, except for a person employed to operate such vehicle.
