10.04.010 - Applicability of definitions.¶
Except as provided in this title, all words and phrases in this title shall have the same meaning as set forth in the Vehicle Code of the state of California, unless the context clearly requires a contrary meaning. In addition, the words and phrases set out in this chapter shall have the meanings set out in this chapter.

10.04.020 - Bicycle lane.¶
"Bicycle lane" means that portion of the roadway set aside for the use of bicycles and so designated as a bicycle lane by official signs and/or markings.

10.04.030 - Bicycle path.¶
"Bicycle path" means a pathway for bicycles and pedestrians located within public right-of-way and designated as a bicycle path by official signs and/or markings.

10.04.040 - Director of public works.¶
"Director of public works" means the director of public works of the city or his authorized representative.

10.04.050 - Fire chief.¶
"Fire chief" means the fire chief of the city or his authorized representatives.

10.04.060 - Fire department.¶
"Fire department" means the fire department of the city or its authorized representative.

10.04.070 - Holidays.¶
"Holidays," within the meaning of this title, are: January 1st, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.

10.04.080 - Horse trail.¶
"Horse trail" means a pathway for horses and pedestrians located within public right-of-way and designated as a horse trail by official signs and/or markings.

10.04.090 - Loading zone.¶
"Loading zone" means the space adjacent to curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

10.04.100 - Official time.¶
Official time is standard time or daylight saving time, as may be in current use in the state.

10.04.110 - Parking time.¶
"Parking time" means the length of time a vehicle may remain parked in a given location.

10.04.120 - Parkway.¶
"Parkway" means that portion of a street other than a roadway or sidewalk.

10.04.130 - Passenger loading zone.¶
"Passenger loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.

10.04.140 - Police chief.¶
"Police chief" means the police chief of the city or his authorized representative.

10.04.150 - Police department.¶
"Police department" means the police department of the city.
(Ord. 385 § 1.101(n), 1978).
10.04.160 - Police officer.¶
"Police officer" means any officer of the police department of the city.

10.04.170 - Public transit vehicle.¶
"Public transit vehicle" means any bus or other vehicle used for the public conveyance of passengers, operated by a public entity or under the control of the Public Utilities Commission.

10.04.180 - Traffic engineer.¶
"Traffic engineer" means the city engineer of the city or his authorized representative.
