10.32.010 - Findings.¶
The council makes the following legislative findings:
A. Sections 21101 and 35700 of the state Vehicle Code authorize cities to establish truck routes and to regulate or prohibit truck traffic on city streets.
B. Through truck traffic on many city streets is excessive and constitutes a hazard to the public health, safety and welfare.
C. Through truck traffic should be restricted to those city streets which are most suitable for such traffic and which minimize the hazards to the public health, safety and welfare.

10.32.020 - Designated—Truck routes.¶
In accordance with Section 10.32.010 and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, the following streets or portions of streets are declared to be truck traffic routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a gross vehicle weight rating of thirteen tons, or as specified in Section 15210(b) of the California Vehicle Code:
Pacific Street from the southerly city limits to the northerly city limits;
Granite Drive from Dominguez Road to Sierra College Boulevard;
Dominguez Road from Pacific Street to Granite Drive;
Sierra College Boulevard from the northerly city limits to the southerly city limits;
Stanford Ranch Road from the westerly city limits to Sunset Boulevard;
Sunset Boulevard from State Route 65 to West Oaks Boulevard;
West Stanford Ranch Road to the intersection of Stanford Ranch Road and Park Drive;
All of Lonetree Boulevard;
Blue Oaks Boulevard from State Route 65 to Lonetree Boulevard.

10.32.025 - Designated—Terminal access routes.¶
In accordance with Section 10.32.010 and when signs are erected giving notice thereof, the following streets or portions of streets are declared to be terminal access routes as defined by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Such routes are designed for federally legal (STAA) commercial vehicles, or any vehicle specified in Section 15210(b) of the California Vehicle Code, for the purposes of providing a single designated route for the termination or origination of freight at commercial terminals.
A. From Interstate 80 to Sierra College Boulevard; Sierra College Boulevard to Pacific Street (Taylor Road); from Pacific Street to Sunset Boulevard; Sunset Boulevard from Pacific Street in a southerly direction for four hundred feet.
B. Sunset Boulevard from State Route 65 to West Oaks Boulevard; West Oaks Boulevard from Sunset Boulevard in a northerly direction for one thousand feet.

10.32.030 - Use required when.¶
A. Whenever any ordinance of this city designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street, the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a gross vehicle weight rating of thirteen tons, the director of public works is authorized to designate such street or streets by appropriate signs as "Truck Route" for the movement of vehicles exceeding a gross vehicle weight rating of thirteen tons.
B. When any such truck route is established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle exceeding a gross vehicle weight rating of thirteen tons shall drive on such route and none other. The driver of the described vehicle shall travel as far as possible toward the destination on a designated route and only then may leave that route by the shortest route available when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets. The driver shall return to, by the shortest route possible, a designated truck route for the purposes of egress from the city. Nothing in this section shall imply the use of residential streets as the shortest route to access a truck route.
C. The provisions of this section shall not apply to:
Passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission;
Any vehicle owned by a public agency or public utility while necessarily in use in construction, installation or repair.

10.32.040 - Violation—Penalty.¶
Each violation of this chapter is an infraction punishable by fine as authorized by the California Vehicle Code.
