15.04.030 Building official-Jurisdiction¶
15.04.010 Adopted.¶
Those certain documents, a copy of which is on file and is open for inspection by the public in the Office of the City Clerk, and also in the Office of the Building Official of the City being marked and designated as: A. Uniform Building Code Standards, 1994 Edition, Volumes 1 ,2, and 3, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, including all appendix chapters thereto; and (i) Structural Welding Code—Reinforcing steel, AWS D1.4-92 (U.B.C. Standard No. 19-2); (ii) American National Standard for Accessible and Useable Building and Facilities, A117.1-1992, published by the Council of American Building Official as modified or amended in the Uniform Building Code referenced herein; (iii) Fire Resistance Design Manual, Thirteenth Edition, dated April 1992, published by the Gypsum Association as referenced in tables 47- A, 47-B, 47-C and Appendix Chapter 12, Division II; (iv) ANSI/ASME A17.1, 1987, Safety Code for Elevator and Escalators including supplements A17.1a - 1988, A17.1b - 1989 and to AMSI/ASME A 17.3a - 1986, Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators including supplements A17.3a - 1989, published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The above is adopted as the Building Code of the City for regulating the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of all buildings or structures in the City providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor, and each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms of such Uniform Building Code, 1994 Edition, Volumes 1 ,2, and 3, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, and the secondary publications referenced in this section, are referred to, adopted by incorporation in this chapter and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this chapter as the Building Code of the City, pursuant to the provisions of the Government Code of the State of California relating thereto, and each and every provision therein set forth, except as amended in this chapter, is referred to and made a part of this chapter as fully as if set forth in this chapter, and the amendments thereto set out in this chapter are enacted as a part thereof. 15.04.020 Building official-Office created.¶
To provide for the administration and enforcement of this chapter, the office of building official is created. The city council may appoint such assistants to the building official to assist him in the discharge of his office as they shall see fit. (Ord. 298 § 2, 1980)
15.04.030 Building official-Jurisdiction of city¶
administrator. The office of the building official shall be under the jurisdiction of the city administrator. (Ord. 298 § 3, 1980)
15.04.040 Violation-Penalty.¶
A. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of the Code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed
Building Code (1/93) 246 five hundred dollars, or by imprisonment in the city jail or in the county jail for a period not to exceed ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. B. Each separate day or any portion thereof during which any violation of this Code is continued shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense, and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable as provided in this chapter. C. The issuance or granting of a permit or approval of plans and specifications shall not be deemed or construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of this Code. No permit presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code shall be valid, except insofar as the work or use which it authorized is lawful. (Ord. 298 § 4, 1980)
