2.74.010 - Limitation.¶
No person shall serve for more than two consecutive terms, as that term may be delineated, as a member of a particular commission or board whose members are appointed by the city council, or the mayor with the approval of the city council. If, at the time of enactment of this section, a commissioner has served on a commission or board for a period of time equivalent to the maximum allowable consecutive full terms, that commissioner shall be allowed to fulfill the current appointment, but shall not be reappointed once the current appointment has expired. Any person appointed to a commission or board to fill the unexpired term of a previous appointee shall be entitled to the maximum allowable consecutive full terms in addition to the unexpired term. Persons who have served on a particular commission may be appointed to other commissions. Further, persons who have served on a particular commission are eligible for reappointment to that commission and may serve for the full period set forth in this section, if such reappointment occurs at least six months subsequent to their previous service. This section shall not apply to (1) those members of commissions and boards who are appointed, selected, or designated by entities not a part of the city municipal government, and (2) city council members serving in an advisory, active, or representative capacity on other commissions and boards.
