1-7-1: PURPOSE:

This chapter is adopted for the purpose of establishing a retirement system under the public employees' retirement system for certain employees of the city. (Ord. 1450, 10-25-1988)

1-7-2: COMMENCEMENT:

The city's participation in the public employees' retirement system commenced on January 1, 1981, pursuant to a contract entered into between the city council of the city and the board of administration of the public employees' retirement system on May 27, 1980, and thereafter may be amended. (Ord. 1450, 10-25-1988)

1-7-3: ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES:

Employees of the city in the following classes are members of said retirement system except such in each class as are excluded by law or by agreement:

(A) Firefighters (local safety members).

(B) Police officers (local safety members).

(C) Employees other than local safety members (miscellaneous members). (Ord. 1450, 10-25-1988)

1-7-4: RETIREMENT AGE:

"Normal retirement age" shall mean age fifty five (55) for local miscellaneous members, age fifty five (55) for local fire members and age fifty (50) for local police members as set forth in the amendment to the contract between the board of administration of the public employees' retirement system and the city council of the city effective January 6, 2001. Any future amendments to said contract shall supersede the provisions of this section. (Ord. 1568, 11-28-2000)

1-7-5: CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS:

The city and its employees shall be bound by all contractual agreements entered into between the city council of the city and the board of administration of the California public employees' retirement system and shall be governed by the public employees' retirement law. (Ord. 1450, 10-25-1988)
