2.266.010 - Created—Direction.

There is created a functional unit of city government known as the public health department, under the general administration of the city manager, which shall be under the direction and control of the city's director of public health.

2.266.020 - Department functions.

The department shall:

A. Administer programs for the control and prevention of disease, promotion of maternal and child health, and promotion of public health;

B. Administer and enforce all laws, ordinances or regulations dealing with public health and sanitation;

C. Administer and enforce all laws, ordinances or regulations as they relate to public health, in cooperation with other enforcement agencies;

D. Maintain vital records of births and deaths in the city;

E. Cooperate with public and private agencies dealing with the health needs of residents of the city;

F. Perform such other related duties as shall be required by law, ordinance or the city manager.
