6.24.010 - Animals at large prohibited.

No person owning or having possession, charge, custody or control of any animal, except domestic cats, shall cause, permit or allow the animal to stray, run, or in any other manner to be at large in or upon any public street, sidewalk, park or schoolground, or upon any unenclosed lot or land, without being under effective charge and control by its owner or keeper.

6.24.020 - Dogs at large prohibited.

No owner or keeper of a dog shall allow or permit the dog, whether licensed or unlicensed, to be or run at large in or upon any public place or premises, or in or upon any private place or premises other than those of the owner or keeper except with the consent of the person in charge of the private place or premises, unless the dog is securely restrained by a substantial leash not to exceed six feet in length and is in charge and control by a person competent to keep the dog under effective charge and control; provided, however, nothing in this section shall prevent a dog from being used without leash to hunt wild birds or game or to herd, guard, gather, or otherwise work domestic animals or fowl in or upon a public place or premises so long as the hunting, herding, guarding, gathering or otherwise working is lawful, and provided the dog is under the charge and control of a person competent to keep the dog under effective charge and control and so long as the dog does not wrongfully harm or damage or threaten to harm or damage any person or public or private property.

6.24.030 - Confining livestock.

All livestock, except when being led, driven, ridden, or transported, shall be confined within fences or other secure enclosure so as to prevent them from straying, running, or in any other manner being at large.
