12.16.020 - Possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages prohibited where—Penalty.

It is unlawful for any person to possess or consume any alcoholic beverages within the boundaries of any public park or village green in the county, including the Veterans Memorial Park and the Rachael Dorris Pioneer Park, which are located within the city of Alturas and are owned and maintained by the county. Violation of this section is an infraction, punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars.

12.16.030 - Exemptions—Permits.

The provisions of Section 12.16.020 of this chapter shall not apply to any event the sponsor of which has obtained a permit from the appropriate law enforcement agency. Permits for the Veterans Memorial Park and the Rachael Dorris Pioneer Park shall be obtained from the city of Alturas police department. Permits for all other parks shall be obtained from the Modoc County sheriff's department. Applications for such permits shall be submitted to the appropriate law enforcement agency at least three days prior to the date of the event for which the permit is sought.
