10.12.010 - Designation of no-parking areas authorized when.

The county road commissioner is authorized to designate as no-parking areas those areas on county highways or rights-of-way which are adjacent to any structures in which fire or other emergency vehicles are housed, and which areas should, in the road commissioner's discretion, be kept free of parked vehicles in order to prevent interference with the access and egress of such emergency vehicles to and from such structures.

10.12.020 - Signposting requirements.

The no-parking areas described in Section 10.12.010 shall be indicated as such by signs, which shall conform to the State Department of Transportation uniform sign chart standards, and such signs shall be prominently posted adjacent to the no-parking areas.

10.12.030 - No-parking areas along state highways.

It shall be unlawful for any person to park, or to leave standing unattended, any vehicle that is six feet or more in height (including any load thereon) within the following areas at any time:

On the south side of State Highway 299, within the state highway right of way, in the town of Canby in front of the fire station and from the fire station to a point two hundred and fifty feet to the west.

This section authorizes the removal of vehicles parked or standing in violation of this section per Section 22651(n) of the California Vehicle Code. Any person in violation of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and is punishable as set forth in the California Penal Code, Section 19. The road commissioner of the county of Modoc is directed to erect and maintain signs in said areas adequate to give notice to said restrictions. Nothing contained herein shall prevent the state of California, Department of Transportation, from erecting and maintaining said signs. Any provision of this section which regulates traffic or delegates the regulation of traffic upon state highways in any way for which the approval of the state of California, Department of Transportation, is required by state law, shall cease to be operative six months after receipt by the county board of supervisors of written notice of withdrawal of approval of the county board of supervisors of written notice of withdrawal of approval of the Department of Transportation.
