Sec. 2.90.010. - Protected employee disclosures.

(a) The city shall not make, adopt, or enforce any rule, regulation, or policy preventing an employee from disclosing information to a government or law enforcement agency, where the employee has reasonable cause to believe that the information discloses a violation of a local municipal statute, or a violation or noncompliance with a local municipal rule or regulation.

(b) No officer or employee of the city shall retaliate against an employee for disclosing information to a government or law enforcement agency, where the employee has reasonable cause to believe that the information discloses a violation of local municipal statue, or a violation or noncompliance with a local municipal rule or regulation.

(c) The city, any officer or employees of the city, shall not retaliate against an employee for refusing to participate in an activity that would result in a violation of a local municipal statute, or a violation or noncompliance with a local municipal rule or regulation.

(d) An employer may not retaliate against an employee for having exercised his or her rights under subsection (a), (b) or (c) in any former employment.

(e) A report made by an employee of the city to his or her employer is a disclosure of information to a government or law enforcement agency pursuant to subsections (a) and (b).
