8-20.01 - Adoption of Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance.

The California State Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, codified at Chapter 2.7 of Title 23 of the California Code of Regulations, and any amendments thereto, is hereby adopted and incorporated herein by reference as if fully set forth below, and shall be known and may be cited as the Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance of the City of Maywood. One (1) copy of the California State Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance shall be maintained on file in City Hall.

8-20.02 - Conflict of laws.

The development standards relating to landscaping found in Section 4000 of the Maywood Zoning Ordinance shall apply in addition to the applicable requirements of the California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance. In the event of any conflict between provisions of the California State Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance and a provision of the Zoning Ordinance, the provision that contains the more stringent landscaping water efficiency requirement(s) shall control.

8-20.03 - Additional requirements.

Notwithstanding any other provision in this code, property owners or their building or landscape designers, including anyone requiring a building or planning permit, plan check, or landscape design review from the City, who are constructing a new (single-family, multi-family, public, institutional, or commercial) project with a landscape area greater than five hundred (500) square feet, or rehabilitating an existing landscape with a total landscape area greater than two thousand five hundred (2,500) square feet, shall comply with Sections 492.6(a)(3)(B), (C), (D), and (G) of the Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, including sections related to use of compost and mulch, as amended on September 15, 2015.
