3.16.040 Certification Of Lists Of Approved Bills

  1. The lists so compiled shall be certified to the board of supervisors by the clerk of the board as being true lists of claims properly and regularly coming before the board. Upon allowance of claims, each of the lists, after amendment if necessary, shall show as to each claim the name of the claimant, the amount allowed, the date of allowance, and the fund on which allowed, and there shall be attached thereto certificates in substantially the following form:

    1. Approval of Supervisors.
    • “In the Board of Supervisors of the County of Mariposa, State of California, in the matter of the above-named claims, it is by the Board ordered that the County Auditor draw his warrant on the County Treasurer payable from the above-named fund in favor of the persons named herein and for such amount as is set opposite their respective names.

2. Certificate of County Clerk.

“I hereby certify that the foregoing claims constituting this demand were allowed, and payment thereof from the above-named fund authorized by the Board of Supervisors at its meeting held on ______________________________, 19

  1. When so certified, each of the lists shall be filed, one in the office of the clerk of the board and one in the office of the auditor. When filed, the lists constitute respectively the “allowance book” and the “warrant book.”

  • 3.16.050 Warrant To Be Drawn

The auditor shall draw a warrant on the treasurer in favor of all claimants whose claims are so approved. Attached to each warrant shall be a list of items for which the warrant is issued. This itemized list may be detached by the claimant before cashing the warrant. On the reverse side of each warrant so issued and above the space for the claimant’s endorsement shall appear the following:

“The undersigned, under penalty of perjury, states: that the within sum is received for a claim against the county of Mariposa, items of which as therein set out are true and correct; that no part thereof has been heretofore paid; that the amount herein is justly due, and claim was presented within one year after the last item thereof accrued.”

3.16.060 Applicability Of Chapter

This chapter does not apply to any claim in favor of any public officer. All claims of public officers shall be submitted in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Government Code of California, except that warrants in favor any public officer shall be in the form herein prescribed.

3.16.070 Issuance Of Stale-Dated Warrants

The county auditor shall reissue stale-dated warrants as follows:

  1. The payee shall sign an affidavit declaring warrant to be lost or destroyed and the circumstances leading to such loss or destruction.

  2. Upon submission of affidavit, the auditor shall verify that said warrant is stale-dated and void.

  3. The auditor will reissue the stale-dated warrant. To reissue, the auditor will transfer funds from the stale-dated warrant revenue account into the original expenditure line item. When that transfer of funds is complete, the reissue of the stale-dated check to the payee will be released to the recipient.

  4. If the warrant is greater than two years old and more than $1,500 (one thousand five hundred dollars), said warrant shall be presented to the board of supervisors for individual approval..
