9.28.010 - Adoption of map.

That certain map consisting of sixteen (16) separate sheets numbered from 1 through 16 entitled, "Official House Numbering Map H-01 City of Manhattan Beach," which map is contained in a flexible binder entitled, "Official House Numbering Map H-101 City of Manhattan Beach," three (3) copies of which are on file in the office of the Building Inspector, is hereby approved and adopted by reference as the official house and building numbering map of the City, and the system of house and building numbering as shown on and contained in said map is hereby approved and adopted by reference as the official house and building numbering system of the City.

9.28.020 - Office of Official Numberer of Buildings created.

There is hereby created the office or position of Official Numberer of Buildings in and for the City. The Building Inspector of the City, by virtue of his office as such Building Inspector, shall at all times be the official numberer of buildings and as such official shall be charged with the duty of assigning, and shall assign, to the various houses, buildings and structures within the City official numbers in accordance with the system of numbering as shown upon the official house and building numbering map of the City. Such numbers shall be assigned upon request of any person interested, and no charge shall be made for such assignment.

9.28.030 - Official Numberer of Buildings to assign numbers.

It shall be unlawful for any person, other than the Official Numberer of Buildings or his authorized representative, to assign to, or designate for, any house, building or structure within the City any official number which purports to be an official number.

9.28.040 - Display of numbers.

It shall be unlawful for any person to place, fix, display or exhibit in or upon any house, building or structure, or portion thereof, within the City as the official number of such house, building or structure, or as a number which purports to be the official number thereof, any number other than the official number of such house, building or structure assigned thereto by such Official Numberer of Buildings.

9.28.050 - All buildings to be numbered.

All houses, buildings and structures within the City, other than garages and small out-buildings, shall be numbered in accordance with the house numbering system with the number assigned thereto by the Official Numberer of the City. In addition to the foregoing, for the purpose of the prompt identification of properties for providing municipal services, all improved properties within the City having frontage both on a street and an alley shall display the appropriate house number at a place where such number can be readily seen from the alley in accordance with the house numbering system of the City. Street house numbers posted on alley or place frontage will also be identified by street name. It shall be unlawful for the owner, occupant or person in charge or control of any such house, building or structure required to have a number under the provisions of this chapter to fail or refuse to obtain and properly display upon any such house, building or structure the official number thereof.

9.28.060 - Official numbers designated on map.

Except as is otherwise provided in Section 9.28.070, the house or building numbers assigned to the various properties in the City are shown upon the official map adopted by Section 9.28.010 of this chapter in red ink. In the event the numbers appearing in red upon the map, which refer to any particular property, are not sufficient in number to assign a number to each of the houses, buildings or structures requiring numbers upon said property, the Official Numberer of Buildings shall assign to such additional buildings upon such property or premises the same number relating thereto, but followed in alphabetical sequence respectively by the letters A, B, C, etc., as the case may be. Such numbers so assigned shall be the official numbers for such additional houses, buildings or structures so designated.

9.28.070 - Schedule of changes.

The house or building numbers assigned to the various properties in the City as shown upon the official house numbering map are changed as follows:

The house numbers appearing in red upon that portion of the two blocks bounded by the southeasterly line of 1st Street, the southwesterly line of Vista Drive, and its extension southeasterly across the vacated portion thereof, the northwesterly line of Francisco Street and the northeasterly line of Morningside Drive, as shown on said official map, shall be and the same are hereby changed in accordance with the following schedule:
