Los Angeles Municipal Code § 20.51 Activities for Which Fees Shall be Charged

In addition to and notwithstanding any charges that may otherwise be provided by law, the City Clerk shall charge and collect the following fees:

(a) For preparing a copy of any public writing on file in the Office of the City Clerk, other than maps, graphs, diagrams and similar records, which are of a size larger than the standard sizes on which the City Clerk keeps the normal records of the City, the charge shall be $.10 per page;

(b) For comparing with the original on file in the City Clerk’s Office, the copy of any public writing prepared by another and presented to the City Clerk for a certificate, the charge shall be $1.00 per page;

(c) For certifying to a copy of any writing on file in the City Clerk’s Office, the charge shall be $10.00 per certification;

(d) For preparing a copy or copies of a map, diagram, graph or other record of special design or of a size larger than the standard sizes on which the City Clerk keeps the normal records of the City, the charge shall be $5.00 per copy;

(e) For conducting any business records search for the purpose of providing or verifying any nonconfidential information, including but not limited to the name, address, ownership, classification, application or registration of any business or person, the charge shall be $3.00 for each search, provided, however, nothing contained in this subsection shall be construed as requiring the payment of this fee as a prerequisite to the right of an individual to inspect a public record pursuant to the California Public Records Act; this charge shall not apply to a request made pursuant to Subsection (g) below;

(f) For providing copies of videotapes of City Council meetings, the following fees shall be charged:

$25.00 for each VHS or SVHS copy;

$35.00 each recorded hour, or portion thereof, for a 3/4 inch format copy;

$20.00 for each CD or DVD copy.

Sec. 20.51.1. Furnishing Council Calendars, Journals and Council Committee Agendas.

The following fees shall be charged for mailing single copies of Council calendars, journals, referral calendars and Council committee agendas as a subscription service:

Publication Annual Fee Calendars $ 72.00 Referral Calendars $ 38.00 Journals $ 24.00 Committee Agendas $ 24.00 All of the above publications $130.00

The fees for these services shall be paid annually upon commencement or renewal of the service. No portion of any of these fees shall be refunded in the event the request for subscription service is canceled before the end of the subscription term. Fees may be prorated for subscriptions of less than one year duration provided that the minimum fee shall not be less than one-fourth of the above-established annual fee.

No fee shall be charged where the requesting party is authorized by law to receive the publications free of charge.
