2.60.010 - Created.

There is created a Commission in and for the City to be known and designated as the Veterans Affairs Commission.

2.60.020 - Purpose.

The purpose of the Commission is to serve as an advisory body to the City Council concerning the well-being of military veterans in Long Beach. The Commission shall provide recommendations on matters pertaining to the affairs of veterans residing within the City. The Commission may evaluate and recommend programs, policies, and practices designed to assist veterans in multiple capacities, and act as a central clearing house for information, programs and services relating to veterans in the Long Beach community.

2.60.030 - Members.

The Veterans Affairs Commission shall consist of nine (9) members. There shall be one (1) member representing each of the nine (9) Councilmanic districts. At least four (4) members of the Commission shall be veterans. Members of the Commission shall have a concern for, and dedication to, the needs of veterans in the City.

2.60.040 - Organization.

A. All meetings shall be subject to the provisions of the Ralph M. Brown Act (California Government Code section 54950 et seq.).

B. The Commission shall be subject to the provisions of Long Beach Municipal Code Chapter 2.18. If a specific provision of this ordinance conflicts with any provision of Long Beach Municipal Code Chapter 2.18, the specific provision shall control.
