Sec. 3-5-301. - Private cause of action.

Any person claiming to be aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice shall file a complaint with such agency as may be designated by the City of Irvine from time-to-time for the handling of such complaint and shall seek to resolve their claim through such agency. The cost of handling the complaint by the designated agency shall be borne by the parties to the complaint in whole or in part in a manner to be determined at the time that the services of the agency are contracted for by the City.

Sec. 3-5-302. - Criminal penalties.

Notwithstanding any provision of this Code to the contrary, no criminal penalties shall attach to a violation of the provisions of this division.

Sec. 3-5-303. - Limitation on actions.

Complaints under this division must be filed as provided in Section 3-5-301 above within one year of the alleged discriminatory act or acts.
