2.25.010 - Designated level one reserve police officers.

The chief of police for the City of Ione is authorized and empowered to appoint specific designated level one (1) reserve police officers. Pursuant to California Penal Code section 830.6(a)(2), such officers are appointed by the City of Ione and have previously qualified as level one (1) reserve police officers pursuant to California Penal Code section 832.6(a)(1) and have further been certified to perform police duties by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training and the chief of police for the City of Ione.

These specific individual officers designated by the chief of police as fully designated level one reserve officers are primarily assigned to the prevention and detection of crime and the general enforcement of the laws of the state of California and the City of Ione. These designated officers shall be appointed and authorized to have full twenty-four hour peace officer status, and they shall possess all the powers, authority, rights and privileges of any full time police officer in the state of California, as set forth in California Penal Code section 830.1. The chief of police may revoke this authority, of any such officer(s), at any time, with or without cause.

2.25.020 - All other reserve officers.

All other reserve police officers (level one, level two or level three) shall be permitted to exercise only the duties and functions as described for a reserve police officer in California Penal Code sections 830.6(a)(1) and 832.6(a)(2) and (3) for which they have been certified to perform police duties by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training and the chief of police. The chief of police may revoke this authority of any such officer(s), at any time, with or without cause.
