Sec. 66-61. - Purpose of article.¶
The public convenience and necessity require that all buildings in the city shall be numbered.

Sec. 66-62. - Assignment of numbers.¶
It shall be the duty of the building official of the city, whenever application shall be made to him as such officer and for such purpose, to designate the appropriate number for any building within the city in accordance with the system of numbering buildings in the city outlined in this article.

Sec. 66-63. - Street naming and numbering system.¶
For the purpose of numbering buildings in the city, the following rules as to streets shall be observed:
(1) Beginning at the intersection of State Street and Florida Avenue, all portions of streets which intersect Florida Avenue lying north of the intersection of Florida Avenue shall be given the prefix "North," and the portions lying south of the intersection of Florida Avenue shall be given the prefix "South." All portions of streets which intersect State Street lying east of the intersection of State Street shall be given the prefix "East," and the portions of such streets lying west of the intersection of State Street shall be given the prefix "West."
(2) The numbering of buildings shall commence at the intersection of the centerlines of State Street and Florida Avenue, and the numbers shall commence with the arbitrary number 100 from this point and continue north and south at the rate of 100 numbers for each 660 feet, and east and west at the rate of 100 numbers for each 330 feet. All numbers assigned to buildings on the north and east sides of streets shall be even numbers and all numbers assigned to buildings on the south and west sides of streets shall be odd numbers. All numbers assigned to buildings shall, so far as is possible, be relative to the building's position in the block.

Sec. 66-64. - Installation of numbers.¶
It shall be the duty of the owner of any building fronting on any street within the city to obtain from the building official of the city the appropriate number of his building, and to cause the number, which must be in approved numerals and of contrasting color to the background, to be conspicuously affixed to the street front of the building and as close to the entrance of the building as may be practicable. Whenever any building is separately occupied by two or more tenants, and such separate occupancies are provided with separate entrances opening to the street, each of such entrances shall be separately numbered.

Sec. 66-65. - Approval of street names.¶
(a) A developer shall submit proposed street names and alternate names to the building official with a map showing the location of the proposed streets.
(b) The building official shall circulate a memo with the proposed names to the following city departments for review and comment:
(1) Fire department.
(2) Planning department.
(3) Police department.
(4) Public works department.
(c) The building official shall schedule the proposed street names for review by the traffic and parking commission.
(d) The city traffic and parking commission shall review the proposed names and all comments received, and shall approve the street names subject to the following findings:
(1) Streets which are a prolongation or approximate prolongation of an existing city or county street shall be given the same name as the existing street.
(2) There are no conflicts or similarities with existing city or county streets in the city's sphere of influence with respect to spelling or sound.
(3) The number of letters in the street name shall not exceed 14 characters.
(4) The names shall be in the best interest of the public health, safety and general welfare.
(e) The secretary of the traffic commission shall forward a list of approved street names to the building official for processing.
