12.16.010 - Prohibited acts.¶
A. It is unlawful to erect buildings of any kind or to erect any structure including, but not limited to, derricks, windmills, silos, motion picture screens, advertising structures or solid walls, or to construct a well for water, oil or other hydrocarbon products, to make excavations or install a subsurface structure of any kind within the building setbacks established by this chapter. Such prohibition shall not apply to trees, agricultural crops, open fences, or to public utilities installed under authority of law, nor shall it apply to any building structure, well, excavation or subsurface structure existing on October 24, 1962.
B. The prohibitions set forth in this chapter shall not apply to the installation of metal poles, to support a sign or to support single or cluster of lamps for floodlighting the premises upon which such installation is made; provided, however, that the installations of such poles shall be subject to the following conditions:
Such installation shall be removed at no expense to the city or the state, upon order of the city or the state, in connection with a future widening of the thoroughfare.
A sign, illuminated, having an area of not more than thirty-six square feet on each of two sides, which pertains only to the business or establishment located on the same premises, may be attached to one such pole on each site.
Any light or sign installed on such pole shall be placed not less than twelve feet above the ground level.
Floodlights installed on such poles shall be equipped with shields adjusted so as to deflect direct rays from public roadways.
Illuminated signs shall be nonflashing and shall be located so that no green yellow or red light thereon will materially or practically tend to interfere with an approaching driver readily being able to distinguish a traffic signal in the same approximate line of vision.

12.16.020 - Section lines used for computation of set backs.¶
A. For the purpose of this chapter, the section line between Section 1, Township 19 South, Range 25 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian and Section 6, Township 19 South, Range 26 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian shall be considered as the centerline of the street along said section line, and all setbacks shall be computed from said section line.
B. For the purpose of this chapter, the section line between Section 12, Township 19 South, Range 25 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian and Section 7, Township 19 South, Range 26 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian shall be considered as the centerline of the street along said section line and all setbacks shall be computed from said section line.
C. For the purpose of this chapter, the section line between Section 1, Township 19 South, Range 25 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian and Section 12, Township 19 South, Range 25 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian shall be considered as the centerline of the street along said centerline and all setbacks shall be computed from said section line.
D. For the purpose of this chapter, the section line between Section 6, Township 19 South, Range 26 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian and Section 7, Township 19 South, Range 26 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian shall be considered as the centerline of the street along said section line and all setbacks shall be computed from said section line.

12.16.030 - Building line setback.¶
A building line setback of fifty-five feet from the centerline of the streets described in this chapter is established along both sides of the following streets:
A. Farmersville Boulevard, (Federal Aid Secondary Highway No. 1136), formerly County Road No. 164, from the north city limits to the south city limits line of the city;
B. Visalia Road (Federal Aid Secondary Highway No. 1143), formerly County Avenue No. 280, from the west city limit line to the east city limit line of the city.
