Section 5.1. District Office.

The principal office of the District shall be at 160 Calle Magdalena, Encinitas, California. The office shall be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on alternating Fridays. The office is closed on alternating Fridays and on holidays observed by the District.

Section 5.2. Holidays.

Holidays observed by the District are the following:

New Year’s Day January 1
Martin Luther King Jr. Day 3rd Monday in January
President’s Day 3rd Monday in February
Memorial Day Last Monday in May
Independence Day July 4
Labor Day 1st Monday in September
Veterans’ Day November 11
Thanksgiving (2 days) 4th Thursday & Friday in November
Holiday Closure December 24–31

District holidays which fall on a Saturday shall be observed on the preceding Friday.

When a District holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed.

Section 5.3. Emergency Telephone Number.

An emergency telephone number for after hours, weekends and holidays is listed on the District’s voicemail, on the District’s website, and posted at the front door of the District’s office. This number is 760-633-2922.

An emergency person shall be available when the office is closed.

Section 5.5. Recycled Paper Purchasing Policy.

The District’s purchasing of paper will follow the policy of the City of Encinitas, as described in the City of Encinitas Administrative Manual Purchasing and Contract Policy PC02 (Environmentally Preferable Purchasing and Contracting Policy).

Section 5.6. Recycling Policy.

The District strongly encourages all employees to take an active role in recycling paper and other waste products generated within the District’s office, as part of a nationwide effort to address the problem of solid waste.

The District urges all employees and departments to consolidate their wastepaper, aluminum cans and newspapers into a central department/division location for weekly pickup by the City’s recycling vendor.

All employees shall make an individual effort to recycle their materials whenever possible, rather than throwing them away.
