"Block," within the meaning of this Chapter, means that portion of any street between two (2) cross streets, or between a cross street and an abutting street, or between two (2) abutting streets. In cases of abutting streets, the prolonged center line of the abutting streets shall be the dividing line of the blocks; provided, however, that all blocks exceeding six hundred sixty feet (660') in length shall be considered two (2) blocks. (Ord. 320, 11-12-1947)
13-13-2: NUMBERING ENTRANCES TO BUILDINGS:¶
A. Placement: All entrances from the public streets of the City to buildings or structures within the City shall be numbered as hereinafter provided. The number of each and every such entrance shall be placed in a conspicuous place upon or immediately adjacent to the door or gate closing such entrance. Each figure of the number shall be at least two inches in height and of corresponding width. The appropriate number of any entrance to any building or structure shall be placed thereon as herein provided within five days after the receipt by the owner, occupant, lessee, tenant or subtenant of such building of a notice from the Building Official or designee of the number designated for such building or structure, and all numbers, other than the numbers provided for in this Chapter for the respective entrances, shall be removed from every building by the owners, occupants, lessees, tenants or subtenants thereof within five days from the service of the notice designating the appropriate numbers to be placed thereon.
B. Designation: It shall be the duty of the Building Official or designee to designate the respective numbers for buildings or structures fronting on streets heretofore laid out, or hereafter to be laid out or extended, and which may at this time, or at any future time, be included within the present or future boundaries of the City. (Ord. 320, 11-12-1947; amd. Ord. 1648, 6-21-2023)
13-13-3: STARTING POINTS FOR NUMBERING:¶
The following shall be the respective starting points or dividing lines on buildings or structures fronting on streets heretofore laid out, or hereafter to be laid out or extended, namely: the street now known as El Segundo Boulevard shall be the starting point or dividing line for all numbers from north to south, and the street now known as Main Street shall be the dividing line of all numbers from east to west. Numbers shall begin at the above- named starting points or dividing lines, and continue to the termini of the respective streets. (Ord. 320, 11-12-1947)
13-13-4: ODD AND EVEN NUMBERS:¶
The numbers on the northerly and westerly sides of the streets shall be odd numbers, and the numbers on the southerly and easterly sides of the streets shall be even numbers. (Ord. 320, 11-12-1947)
13-13-5: NUMBERS USED IN EACH BLOCK:¶
One hundred (100) numbers or as many thereof as may be necessary, shall be allotted to each block. Number 100 shall be the first number used at the respective beginning points on the sides of the streets, which are to contain the even numbers, and number 101 for the sides which are to contain the odd numbers. At the beginning of the second block from the starting point, the first numbers shall be 200 and 201 respectively, and so continue throughout the system. (Ord. 320, 11-12-1947)
13-13-6: FEET ALLOWED FOR EACH NUMBER:¶
Twenty foot (20') frontage shall be allowed for each number to be calculated from the end of the block at which the number begins. On all streets, the numbering shall be done as if the streets extended to the dividing line of the City as defined in Section 13-13-3 of this Chapter. (Ord. 320, 11-12-1947)
