Sec. 8.48.010. - Title.¶
This chapter shall be known as the Flagpole Ridge Avalanche Ordinance.

Sec. 8.48.020. - Purpose.¶
The ordinance from which this chapter is derived is enacted for the public health, safety and welfare to control certain winter uses in the flagpole ridge area north of Echo Summit in the County due to the possibility of such winter uses causing avalanches and posing other hazards to the people of the County.

Sec. 8.48.030. - Area.¶
This chapter shall apply to the flagpole ridge area north of Echo Summit in the County. A map generally depicting the area is on file with the Board of Supervisors. The area shall be clearly marked by signs posted at all areas reasonably accessible to the area at intervals of not less than 300 feet along such accessible areas. The signs shall be posted by the State Department of Transportation.

Sec. 8.48.040. - Prohibited uses.¶
Within the area designated in Section 8.48.030, it is unlawful for any person to walk, ski, sled, or otherwise traverse across, by natural or artificial means, all or any part of the area designated in Section 8.48.030, at any time of the year when there is 36 or more inches of snow on the ground in such area.

Sec. 8.48.050. - Punishment.¶
Violation of this chapter shall be a misdemeanor, punishable by six months in jail or a $500.00 fine, or both.
