Sec. 10-60. - Purpose.¶
The purpose of this article is to provide for an annual self-inspection program for certain occupancies in the City of El Centro to aid in the prevention of fire and to assist in the protection of life and property for the prevention of fire, panic and hazardous materials.

Sec. 10-61. - Definition.¶
As used in this article, "B" occupancy shall mean those occupancies as defined in section 202, division II of the California Fire Code.

Sec. 10-62. - Inspection; completion of forms.¶
(a) The fire code official shall deliver by personal service, mail or electronically its "Self-Inspection Worksheet" and "Business Emergency Record" forms to the owner, manager or other person with authority of each B occupancy within the city on an annual basis.
(b) The owner, manager or other person with express authority shall, within thirty (30) days from the issue date as provided on the self-inspection worksheet form, conduct the required inspection for fire safety, and complete and return the completed forms to the fire code official. Forms may be completed online and returned electronically. All deficiencies found shall be set forth on the forms.
(c) The owner or other person having charge or control of the B occupancy shall, within forty-five (45) days from the issue date as provided on the self-inspection worksheet form, correct all deficiencies found on the premises and as listed on the provided forms.
(d) The fire code official may conduct such inspections, as he/she deems necessary to ensure compliance with the self-inspection program.

Sec. 10-63. - Penalty; business license.¶
(a) Any person who violates any provision of this article shall be guilty of an infraction.
(b) In addition to any other penalty, in the event of violation of any provision of this article, the city may give notice of intent, in writing, with a copy to the business license holder of any offending B occupancy, that the business license for such occupancy be suspended or revoked. The council may proceed to suspend or revoke the business license after an open hearing with not less than ten (10) days' written notice to the business license holder, to appear and defend and answer any charge made against him.
