10.04.010 - Generally.¶
Whenever in this title the following terms are used, they have meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter, as follows in Sections 10.04.020 through 10.04.190.

10.04.020 - Alley.¶
"Alley" means a public highway which does not exceed twenty feet between property lines.

10.04.030 - City Hall parking lot.¶
"City Hall parking lot" means the parking lot located north of City Hall, south of the Delano Police Department, west of Kensington, and east of the access road between the Civic Center and Kensington.

10.04.040 - Crosswalk.¶
"Crosswalk" means that portion of the roadway included within the prolongation of the curb and property lines at street intersections, and other places marked in accordance with the provisions of this title.

10.04.050 - Commercial vehicle.¶
"Commercial vehicle" means any motor vehicle of a type required to be registered under this Code used or maintained for the transportation of persons for hire, compensation, or profit or designed, used, or maintained primary for the transportation of property.

10.04.060 - Highway.¶
"Highway" means way or place of whatever nature publicly maintained and open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel. Highway includes any street. (Section 360, California Vehicle Code).

10.04.070 - Driver.¶
"Driver" means a person who drives or is in actual physical control of a vehicle.

10.04.080 - Intersection.¶
"Intersection" means the area embraced within the prolongation of the property lines of two or more streets which join at an angle, whether or not one such street crosses the other.

10.04.090 - Loading zone.¶
"Loading zone" means that space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

10.04.100 - Operator.¶
"Operator" means any person who is in actual physical control of a vehicle.

10.04.110 - Park.¶
"Park" means to stand a vehicle for a period of time that is reasonably necessary for the loading or unloading of persons or materials.

10.04.120 - Pedestrian.¶
"Pedestrian" means any person afoot.

10.04.130 - Right-of-way.¶
"Right-of-way" means the privilege of immediate use of the street.

10.04.140 - Roadway.¶
"Roadway" means that portion of a street between the regularly established curb lines.

10.04.150 - Sidewalk.¶
"Sidewalk" means that portion of a street between the curb lines and the adjacent property lines.

10.04.160 - Street.¶
"Street" means every way set apart for public travel except alleys.

10.04.170 - Traffic.¶
"Traffic" means pedestrians, vehicles, either single or together, while using any street for purposes of travel.

10.04.180 - Traffic control officer.¶
"Traffic control officer" means any peace officer, community service officer for the City of Delano who has been trained in traffic control, or any other employee of the City of Delano who is assigned traffic control duties.

10.04.190 - Vehicle.¶
"Vehicle" means every device or animal by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a street. For the purpose of this title a bicycle is considered a vehicle.
