15.28.010 - Electrical Code adoption.¶
That certain Electrical Code adopted and modified in Section 15.08.100 is enacted as the primary electrical code of the city and made a part of this Code by reference with the same force and effect as if fully set forth in this Code with the modifications set forth in Section 15.28.020.

15.28.020 - Electrical Code modifications.¶
A. Wiring Methods. Section 230-43 is amended to read as follows:
230-43. Wiring Methods for 600 Volts, Norminal or Less.
Service entrance conductors shall be installed in approved rigid metal conduits, wireways, auxiliary gutters or approved bus duct. Underground service entrance conductors may be installed in approved nonmetallic conduit. The City Council expressly finds that the foregoing modification is necessary to meet local geographical and climatic conditions.
B. Maximum Number of Disconnects. Section 230-71(a) and (b) shall read as follows:
(a) A single disconnecting means shall be installed for each metered service. Exception: Temporary construction services.

15.28.030 - Electrical permit—Fee.¶
A fee for each electrical permit shall be paid to the building official as set forth by resolution of the city council. No plan-checking fee shall be required for minor work in any occupancy when electrical plans are not required to be submitted.

15.28.040 - Electrical installations—Compliance with utility company…¶
All installations of electrical services shall be made in accordance with all applicable rules of the particular utility company concerned. No service may be energized until work is completed to the satisfaction of the chief electrical inspector.

15.28.050 - Electrical connection without permit—Authorization required.¶
Except where work is done under an annual electrical maintenance permit, it is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to make connection from a source of electrical energy, or to supply electrical service to any electrical wiring, devices, appliances, apparatus or equipment which requires a permit for installation unless such person, firm or corporation shall have obtained prior authorization from the chief electrical inspector.

15.28.060 - Authority to disconnect wires under certain circumstances.¶
A. The electrical inspector is authorized to cut or disconnect any wire in case of emergency where necessary to safeguard life or property, or where such wire may interfere with the work of the fire department.
B. The electrical inspector is further authorized to disconnect or order discontinuance of electrical service to any electrical wiring, device, appliance, apparatus or equipment found to be dangerous to life or property.
C. When such equipment or installation is to be disconnected, a notice shall be placed thereon listing the cause for such action, and written notice of such disconnection and the causes therefor shall be given within twenty-four hours to the owner and/or occupant of such building, structure or premises; provided, however, that in cases of immediate danger to life or property, such disconnection may be made immediately without such notice. The electrical inspector shall immediately notify the serving utility in writing of the issuance of such order to discontinue use.

15.28.070 - Unauthorized reconnection prohibited.¶
It is unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or serving utility to make connections from a source of electrical energy or to supply electrical service to any electrical wiring, device, appliance, apparatus or equipment which has been disconnected or ordered to be disconnected by the electrical inspector until a certificate of approval has been issued by the inspector authorizing the reconnection and use of such electrical wiring, device, appliance, apparatus or equipment.
