6.04.010 - Fees—Designated.

Every person who owns or harbors a dog within the limits of the city shall pay to the city clerk, or other person designated by the council as license collector an annual license fee at a rate to be determined by the city council by ordinance or resolution.

6.04.020 - Fees—Collection—Receipt.

It shall be the duty of the city clerk or other person designated by the council as license collector to collect such license fees, and to deliver to the person paying the same a license or receipt containing the name of the owner, a description of the dog for which the license or receipt is issued, together with the number of such license.

6.04.030 - Issuance and use of tags.

The city clerk or other person designated by the council shall also deliver to the owner a metal tag or seal, upon which shall be stamped a number corresponding to the number upon the license or receipt, which the owner is required to attach to a collar to be worn by such dog.

6.04.040 - Supply of receipts and tags.

The city clerk is authorized and directed to procure annually a sufficient supply of the receipts and metal tags required by Sections 6.04.020 and 6.04.030 in accordance with the intendments of this chapter.

6.04.050 - Fees—Basis for levy and collection.

A. Calendar Year Basis. All licenses provided for in this chapter shall be levied and collected upon a calendar year basis.

B. Last Half of Year. Licenses or receipts issued after the first day of July of any year shall be dated July 1st and the fee to be paid for such license shall be one-half of the fee provided in Section 6.04.010.

6.04.060 - Unlicensed dogs.

A. Designated. Any dog running at large within the corporate limits of the city which does not have fastened to the collar to be worn by it the metal tag provided for in Section 6.04.030 shall be deemed an unlicensed dog within the meaning of this title.

B. Seizure. It shall be the duty of the chief of police and every police officer of the city to promptly seize such dog and keep the same in some safe and secure place for the period of two days.

C. Posting of Notice. Immediately upon the taking up and impounding of any such dog, the chief of police shall post or cause to be posted a notice at or near the front entrance of the City Hall describing such dog and stating the place where and the time when it may be seen.
