13.20.010 - Approval and connection required.

It shall be unlawful for any person to install, place, maintain, keep, or to allow or cause installation, placement, maintenance or keeping of any fire hydrant which has not been approved by the fire chief or which has not been connected to a water main, and which is placed in a position to mislead fire department personnel that it may be a working hydrant, available for fire suppression.

13.20.020 - Authorized manufacturers designated.

The only fire hydrants which are authorized for installation upon mains within the city are the following manufactured hydrants: Watrous, Greenberg, Corey, Mueller, Kennedy, and such other hydrants as the fire chief may later approve.

13.20.030 - Exception.

This chapter shall not prohibit the placement of any fire hydrant which shall be for decorative purposes, and which shall be placed in position no closer than ten feet from any street frontage.

13.20.040 - Violation—Penalty.

A. A violation of this chapter is declared a nuisance, and the fire chief or his appointed representative may enter upon property for the purposes of removal of any fire hydrant which shall violate this chapter.

B. A violation of this chapter constitutes a misdemeanor which shall be punishable by confinement in the County Jail for a period not to exceed one year, or a fine of one thousand dollars, or both jail and fine.
