4-2-1201: PERMIT REQUIRED:

No person shall engage in, conduct, or carry on the business of patrol/night watch service without a permit issued under the provisions of chapter 1, article 1 of this title. (1962 Code § 6-10.01 et seq.)

4-2-1202: DEFINITION:

"Patrol/night watch service" shall mean the activity of going from building to building, or from property to property, along or on the public streets, alleys, or other public ways adjacent to such buildings or properties, at more or less regular intervals during the day or at night, for the purpose of watching the properties or buildings to protect any interest of the owner or occupant. (1962 Code § 6-10.01 et seq.)

4-2-1203: EXEMPTIONS:

The provisions of this article shall not be applicable to the following:

A. Any patrol/night watch service which is engaged exclusively in protecting only one building or property.

B. Any private detective licensed by the state who carries proper credentials for means of identification while doing private investigation work for another person. (1962 Code § 6-10.01 et seq.)

4-2-1204: DISTINCTIVE UNIFORM AND BADGES REQUIRED:

Any person while employed or engaged in patrol/night watch service shall wear a distinctive uniform, and a distinctive badge, which is different in color from, and does not resemble the uniform or badge of the Beverly Hills police department. (1962 Code § 6-10.01 et seq.)

4-2-1205: IDENTIFICATION CARD REQUIRED:

Any person employed or engaged in patrol/night watch service shall obtain an identification card issued under the provisions of chapter 1, article 2 of this title, and shall have such identification card in their possession at all times while engaged in the activity regulated by this article. (1962 Code § 6-10.01 et seq.)
