Sec. 10.36.010. - City engineer to establish marked crosswalks.¶
(a)
The city engineer shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at all intersections within the central traffic district.
(b)
Crosswalks shall be established and maintained at such intersections outside the district and other places within or outside the district where the planning commission determines that there is particular hazard to pedestrians crossing the roadway subject to the limitation contained in subsection (c) of this section.
(c)
Other than crosswalks at intersections, no crosswalk shall be established in any block which is less than 400 feet in length and such crosswalk shall be located as nearly as practicable at midblock.
(d)
The city engineer may place signs at or adjacent to an intersection in respect to any crosswalk directing that pedestrians not cross in the crosswalk so indicated.

Sec. 10.36.020. - When pedestrians must use crosswalks.¶
No pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than by a crosswalk in the central traffic district or in any business district.

Sec. 10.36.030. - Pedestrians on bridges, overpasses, underpasses or viaducts.¶
(a)
No person or pedestrian shall walk, run, stop, stand or sit on the roadway of a bridge, overpass, underpass or viaduct, except when permitted by the city engineer.
(b)
Notwithstanding Vehicle Code § 21956, every person or pedestrian shall walk on the sidewalks or on designated walkways.
(c)
The sidewalks or designated walkways may be on one or both sides of the roadway.
(d)
The city engineer is authorized to designate a portion of the bridge, overpass, underpass or viaduct for pedestrian walkway.
(e)
This section shall not apply to persons involved in the removal of disabled vehicles or to workers involved with the repair and maintenance of the bridge, overpass, underpass or viaduct.
