Editor's note— Ord. No. 832, § 1, adopted Sept. 1, 2020, repealed the former Ch. 2.50, §§ 2.50.010—2.50.120, and enacted a new Ch. 2.50 as set out herein. The former Ch. 2.50 pertained to similar subject matter, and derived from Ord. No. 354 § 1 (part), adopted in 1976; and Ord. No. 441 §§ 1(A)—1(D), adopted in 1981.

To carry out the purposes of this chapter, there is established a recreation department.

The functions of the recreation department shall include:

A. The provision of opportunities through a recreation program for all ages and the administration of such program;

B. The scheduling of the use of recreation and park facilities;

C. Making recommendations on the operation and maintenance of recreation and park facilities and programs.

The recreation department shall be headed by a recreation director hired by the city manager. They shall be responsible for the direction and control of all functions assigned to that department. The recreation department shall be organized, maintained and operated by the recreation director under the general administrative direction of the city manager.

The cost of the operation of the recreation department shall be funded in accordance with the terms of the joint powers agreement adopted pursuant to Title I, Division 7, Chapter 5, (Sections 6500-6514 inclusive) of the California Government Code.
