Sec. 2-1. - Compensation of city council members.¶
In accordance with the provisions of section 36516 of the Government Code of the State of California, the compensation of the members of the city council shall be three hundred dollars per month, which shall be payable at the same time and in the same manner as salaries are paid to other officers and employees of the city.
The salaries prescribed in this section are and shall be exclusive of any amounts payable to each member of the city council as reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by him or her in the performance of official duties for the city.
Pursuant to the provisions of section 36516.5 of the Government Code, the ordinance codified in this section shall take effect as to all members of the city council when one or more members begin a new term of office following the 2002 general municipal election.
All other sections and provisions of article I of chapter 2 of the Code of the City of Alturas remain in full force and effect.

Sec. 2-2. - Time and place of meetings of city council.¶
The regular meetings of the city council shall be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the city hall.

Sec. 2-2.2. - Non-conflict of interest.¶
The city council finds that it is not a violation of the common law prohibition for the same person to hold two incompatible positions, for the same person to hold a position on the city council and at the same time hold the position of city fire chief.
And further, the City of Alturas finds that it is not by the fact itself a conflict of interest for the same person to hold a position on the city council and at the same time hold the position of city fire chief.
